Our work
Digital Learning Support
Refurbished and new devices, so a child can join a class that has moved online.

The gap
Why this is needed.
When teaching moved onto a screen, the children without a screen simply stopped attending.
In many homes there is one phone, it belongs to a parent, and it leaves the house at seven in the morning.
The device is not a luxury on top of the education. For those years, it was the education.
Our approach
What we actually do.
- We take working and repairable phones, tablets and laptops that people no longer use.
- Each one is inspected, wiped, repaired where it is worth repairing, and set up before it goes out.
- Devices that cannot be made safe or useful are not passed on to a student.
How it works
Start to finish.
These steps happen in order, every time.
- Step 1
A device is offered
Through the form on this site, with photographs.
- Step 2
We inspect it
Battery, screen, charging, storage, and whether the operating system still receives updates.
- Step 3
We wipe and set it up
A full factory reset before anything else. The previous owner's data never travels with the device.
- Step 4
It goes to a student
Set up, charged, and with someone to call when it stops working.
Impact
What this has added up to.
We have not published figures for this programme yet.
ReadoBook keeps its own records of what goes out and to whom. Those numbers will be published here once the foundation has reconciled them and can name the period they cover.
How you can help
Three things that make a difference here.
The other three
Books for Every Child
New and carefully checked books, handed to children who would otherwise share one copy or go without.
Doorstep Delivery
Because a bus fare across the city is a real reason a child stops reading.
Online Library
Request a book from a phone. We deliver it, or point you to a copy you can read straight away.
