Give technology a second purpose.

A phone in a drawer is, to a household with none, the difference between attending a class and missing it.

Offer a device

Device eligibility and collection are subject to verification. If it is not something we can responsibly give a student, we will tell you so rather than take it and discard it.

Before you give us a device: back up anything you want to keep, sign out of your accounts, and remove any screen lock or activation lock. We factory-reset every device we receive, but a device still locked to your account cannot be used by anyone.

Photographs help — we'll ask for them when we call.

    Battery, screen, charging, storage, and whether it still gets security updates.

    Wipe and repair

    A full factory reset first. Then the parts and labour to make it usable.

    It goes to a student

    Set up, charged, and with someone to call when it stops working.

Questions about donating a device

01Will you collect from my home?
Where there is enough to be worth a trip and you are within our reach, yes. Tell us roughly how many books there are and where you are, and we will confirm.
02What happens to the data on a device I donate?
Every device is fully reset before it is inspected further. Nothing of yours travels with it. We still recommend you back up and wipe it yourself first — that way neither of us has to rely on the other.
03What condition does a device need to be in?
It needs to be repairable. A cracked screen or a tired battery is fine. A device that no longer receives security updates, or that would cost more to repair than it is worth, is not something we can responsibly give a student.
04Do you accept devices that don't switch on?
Sometimes. Tell us the make, model and what happened, and we will say honestly whether it is worth collecting.
